Have a Healthy Heart
2nd Annual Soul Food Celebration
February 25, 2008
A hearty meal was the centerpiece of an event sponsored by the Calhoun County Extension office on Monday, celebrating Black History Month. The meal scrumptiously demonstrated how traditional "soul food" dishes can taste just as good as grandma's but be a bit healthier. Myrus Weaver, EFNEP Agent Assistant, organized the event which focused on recruiting participants for a healthy eating cooking school to be held later this year.
Thanks to those who helped make this program a success!
Special thanks to the Coosa Valley students for their participation!

Ezell Dickerson serves the collards he prepared.
Samantha Dent helped serve dessert, as well as prepared
her famous fried chicken.

Enjoying the delicious meal!
