Cent$ible Nutrition

Helping Families Eat Better for Less

Cent$ible Nutrition is an 8-10 week adult course in basic foods. It helps families eat better for less, sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, through the Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program.

EFNEP

It's objective is to provide nutrition education to limited-resource families by working with clients in their homes, working with clients' neighbors, using what is available in the home, helping in the development of healthier, happier families.

Lessons enable participants to develop new skills and gain knowledge in order to:

  • Improve nutritional and physical well-being of the total family.
  • Increase knowledge of the 4 essentials of human nutrition and physical activity.
  • Increase the ability to select and buy food that satisifies nutritional needs.
  • Improve skills in food production, preparation, storage, safety, sanitation, and meal-time practices.
  • Increase the ability to manage food budgets and related resources such as food stamps.

Classes are fun and informative, and best of all FREE!

You'll even learn lots of new recipes!

For more information, to join or schedule a class for your group,

call 256-237-1621, and speak with one of our EFNEP

Agent Assistants Amanda Haynes or Sheree Russell.
