Beau Brodbeck is now the Regional Extension Agent in Forestry, Natural Resources and Wildlife. Many of you have had the opportunity to read Beau’s articles since he has been working with Extension as a Specialist in Urban and Community Forestry. He may be contacted at the Baldwin County Extension Office.
Crystal Oates is an Agent Assistant that is working in Baldwin County. Ms. Oates is working with the Master Environmental Education Program, Classroom in the Forest programs and assisting with other Extension programs.
Master Environmental Education Program
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking volunteers to teach environmental awareness in Baldwin County. Previous teaching experience or environmental knowledge is not required. The Master Environmental Education (MEE) Program has a two-day training session scheduled for volunteers on August 22 and 23 at Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Volunteers will be trained on topics including: recycling, the water cycle, household hazardous waste, groundwater pollution, septic systems, solid waste management, non point source pollution, aquatic nuisance species, and backyard wildlife habitat. Once trained, the Master Environmental Educators are asked to give back 20 hours of volunteer time per year to the community.

Alabama in Motion (AIM)
Ten teams and eleven individuals are participating in this year’s AIM eight-week fitness program. After the first two weeks, a total of 2058 miles have been walked in our county. The participants are well on their way to reaching their goals!
