   The annual eight-week fitness program, Alabama in Motion was conducted March 11th-May 5th. Baldwin County had 44 people participate in AIM.    We had nine teams of four people and eight individual walkers. There were 9718 miles walked around our county during the program.

     An AIM celebration was held on May 17th at the PZK Civic Center in Robertsdale with 22 people participating.  The guest speaker for the program was Jeffrey Dull, DPM, of Premier Foot Care.  He presented information on common foot and ankle ailments and their treatments.  Health exhibits on Skin Cancer, Stroke Awareness, and Heart Health also provided information for all the participants at the celebration.

     Each participant received a certificate.  The teams with the most miles included:  Street Walkers- 1894 miles, Divine Divas-1329 miles, Top Cats-974 miles, Road Walkers 753 miles and Roadrunners 648 miles.  Other teams participating were Go-Getters, Goodie Oldies, Honey Bees, and Puddle Jumpers.

      The awards for the top walker on a team were Dane Yntema- 567 miles, Elmer Grigsby-499 miles, Peggy Worley-451 miles, Shelley Jones-428 miles, Louis Wilkerson-392 miles, Shelly Yntema-376 miles, Bridget Faith-334 miles, Ron Tiffany-331miles and April Hall-307 miles.

      The individual division winners were:  1st place, Harry Anderson-532 miles, 2nd place, Don Wenzel-237 miles, 3rd place, Beverly Wenzel-234 miles and 4th place, Delores Milstead-224 miles. Local sponsors provided awards for the program.

Workshop for Educators

    There is a Project Learning Tree Workshop scheduled for July 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Five Rivers Delta Center on the Causeway.  Project Learning Tree provides tools for educators to bring the environment into their classroom. The Project Learning Tree materials are designed for students in Pre-K-12th grade. Intensive Economic Development Training Course

   The Intensive Economic Development Training Course is scheduled for Session I:  July 23-27 and Session II:  September 10-14 at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center in Auburn, Alabama.  This course is presented by the Economic and Community Development Institute, a partnership of Auburn University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.  The annual two-week course introduces participants to all phases of economic development.  For more information, visit the course website at http://www.auburn.edu/edi/intensivecourse.html.
