UPCOMING ROW CROP PRODUCTION
MEETINGS FOR SOUTHWEST ALABAMA
PEANUT PRODUCTION MEETING
There will be two Peanut Production Meetings at the Creek Family Restaurant in Atmore. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, January 17 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Topics will be Peanut Varieties for 2007, Planting Dates, Peanut Fertility and Production Practices. The speaker will be Dallas Hartzog, Peanut Agronomist from Auburn University.
The second meeting will be Wednesday, January 24 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. The topic will be Peanut Outlook for 2007. The speaker will be Marshall Lamb with the USDA Peanut Lab in Dawson, Georgia.
There will be a Dutch Treat Luncheon for both meetings.
SOYBEAN PRODUCTION MEETING
A Soybean Production Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 29 at the Fish Camp Restaurant in Summerdale. The meeting will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Speakers for the meeting are Dr. Ed Sikora and Dr. Dennis Delaney, Auburn University Soybean Specialists. The topics will be Asian Rust and Soybean Production.
2007 GULF COAST COTTON EXPO
The 2007 Gulf Coast Cotton Expo will be on Tuesday, February 6 at the Atmore Lions Community Center, 501 South Pensacola Avenue, in Atmore. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The program will be from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Topics at the Expo will include Cotton Varieties and Weed Resistance Management, Dr. Dale Monks and Dr. Mike Patterson, Auburn University Cotton Specialists; Cotton Nematode Control, Dr. Bill Gazaway and Dr. Kathy Lawrence, Auburn University Plant Pathologists; Cover Crops and Tillage to Supply Nitrogen, Up Yields and Cut Costs, Dr. David Wright, University of Florida Cotton Agronomist; Producers Tell Their Story, Shep Morris and Jerry Davis; Cotton Insect Control, Dr. Ron Smith, Auburn University Cotton Entomologist; Precision Ag, In Time, Module Cotton Picker, Auto Steer and Cotton Yield Monitor, Hank Van Riesen; Harvest Timing: A Hidden Issue, Mike Donahoe, Santa Rosa County Extension Director; Marketing Cotton and Cotton Economics, Dr. Don Shurley, University of Georgia Cotton Economist.
