Mr. C. Alan Martin, Executive Vice President, Alabama Power Company Mr. Martin currently serves as Executive Vice President at Alabama Power Company and has responsibility for external affairs. Prior to his work with Alabama Power, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Southern Company. He serves on the Alabama Sports Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors as well as the Board of Governors for the 191 Club of Atlanta. Mr. Martin joined the Southern Company in 1972 as a right-of-way agent at Alabama Power. He held a number of staff and management positions at Alabama Power, including Assistant to the President, Vice President for Marketing, and Vice President for the Birmingham Division. From 1995 through early 1998, Mr. Martin served as Vice President of Human Resources for the Southern Company, directing the company’s regional human resources organizations, compensation and benefits, leadership development, and Southern Company, the utility’s employee training organization. While in Birmingham, Mr. Martin was a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce and was campaign chairman for the 1995 Central Alabama United Way Campaign. He also served on the board of Junior Achievement, the executive advisory council at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Birmingham Southern College, and has held various offices with the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, he served on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Development Board and Operation New Birmingham. A Birmingham native, Mr. Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He and his wife, Cheryl, have two children, Ryan and Lindsey. Langford, Mayor, City of Fairfield Mayor Langford is currently serving a third term as Mayor of the City of Fairfield. He was born in Birmingham and is a product of the Birmingham City School System. A graduate of Lawson State Community College and the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Mayor Langford received an honorary Doctor of Law degree from Miles College in May 1988. Mayor Langford worked for WBRC for ten years as a News Reporter and served two years on the Birmingham City Council. He presently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity (JCCEO), Chairman of the Western Area Mayor’s Alliance, and Chairman of the West Jefferson Amusement Authority. He was awarded the Director’s Community Leadership Award by Federal Bureau of Investigation of the Department of Justice for his dedicated support in the fight against drug abuse. The Young Men’s Business Club named him Citizen of the Year for his leadership. Projects completed during Mayor Langford’s administration include the construction of the Fairfield Olympic Swim Complex, Homer Hayes Olympic Soccer Field, Fairfield Inn—Birmingham West, and the creation of the Board of the West Jefferson Amusement Authority. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
