What is global warming?

The long-term gradual rise in average global temperature due to increased concentration of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere which traps the long-wavelength energies emitted from heated objects on earth surface is known as global warming. In other words, we can say that an enhanced form of natural greenhouse effect over time causes the global warming. The average surface temperature of earth increased by about 0.8 ⁰C in last hundred years but 66% of that increased temperature was resulted in just last three decades. This observation confirms that a drastic change in climate is an important concern to our daily life now and the main reason of this occurrence is probably the reason of constant increase in GHGs in atmosphere which must be minimized through reducing the burning of fossil fuel and deforestation.

More than 300 scientists from 160 research groups in 48 countries contributed to a report to confirm that earth is getting warmer and how warmer was it in last 50 years. They tell about 10 key climate indicators that evidence the fact that earth is getting warmer.
