The Current State of ENSO
The figure below clearly tells about the dominated phase of ENSO during a three months period. In each three-month period one of ENSO phase dominates (bar which is longest) on other two phases. As for example, neutral is dominant over El Niño and La Niña phases during May-June-July (MJJ).
