    Education Initiative
According to the Center for Disease Control, six percent of Alabamians have asthma, with 199,000 persons now diagnosed. In partnership with Auburn University's Harrison School of Pharmacy, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System is developing an educational initiative to address this serious health problem. The Tuscaloosa County Extension office will launch the initiative's pilot program on May 1, 2002.

As part of this effort, the Extension System has developed four public service announcements (PSA's) suitable for radio and television broadcast throughout the state. We strongly encourage broadcast stations throughout the state to download these PSA's and use as an integral part of their daily programming. These PSA's were produced in cooperation with the coaching staffs of the University of Alabama and Auburn University.

On behalf of thousands of asthma sufferers throughout Alabama, we thank you for your efforts.
