  • Routine Soil Analysis
  • Forage and Feed Analysis
    • Forage and feed samples are routinely analyzed for percent moisture, crude protein, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber, nitrate-N, ash, pH, crude fat, lignin, total digestible nutrients (TDN), and elemental contents (Ca, K, Mg, P, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, etc.,) ([hotlink the forage website here]. Relative forage quality (RFQ) will be provided for known common grass species when the analysis are done using near infrared reflectance (NIR). The turnaround time is normally within two weeks. The report includes name and e-mail of the Regional Extension agent or specialist for Animal Science and Forages. Upon request, reference publications such as Understanding Forage Quality will be provided to customers.
  • Special Soil Analysis
    • In addition to the routine analysis, soil samples are extracted by different methods and analyzed for calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), potassium (K), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), barium (B), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), sodium (Na), nickel (Ni) and others by ICP (inductively coupled plasma). Also, total nitrogen (N), carbon (C), sulfur (S), organic matter, nitrate (NO3-N), ammonium (NH4-N), particle size, soluble salts, alkalinity, electrical conductivity, saturated media extract for potting media, pecan package analysis and many others (see detailed menu here [hotlink the special analysis form here]. These analyses will take more time to complete depending on the type of analysis requested and number of samples. Limited interpretations of the results will be provided upon requested.
  • Water Anaylsis
    • Water samples from irrigation systems, wells, and ponds are analyzed for NO3-N, calcium, potassium, pH, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, boron, molybdenum, aluminum, cobalt, chromium, lead, sodium and soluble salts ([hotlink the water analysis form here]. Limited interpretation of the test results will be provided.
  • Plant Analysis
    • Plant samples are analyzed for nitrogen, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, sulfur, boron and others. A report listing concentrations of the requested nutrients and sufficiency ranges for plant requested will sent to the customer. Turnaround time depends on the analysis requested and number of samples.
