Information Network (REIN)

The Alabama Regional Equine Information Network (REIN) program is designed to meet the needs of horse owners, horse professionals, and horse industry personnel in the state of Alabama. The REIN training program will be held in Upchurch Hall, on the AU campus. *(This has changed from Extension Hall to Upchurch Hall) This program will utilize distance learning technology to simulcast the classes across the state of Alabama. To be clear, you can attend any of the 20 locations throughout the state on each of the dates listed below to view that presentation. This program is similar in structure to the Master Cattle Producer program that the Alabama Cooperative Extension System has offered for several years in Alabama. The REIN program will meet onTuesday and Thursday nights from September 2 through September 18 and September 30 through October 9 , with classes beginning at 6:00 p.m.

National Animal ID Plan for Horses – Dr. Tony Frazier, D.V.M. and Dr. Terry Slaten, D.V.M.;  Conformation: Why is it Important? – Dr. Cindy McCall

Horse Nutrition – Dr. Betsy Wagner

Growing Forage Crops for Horses – Dr. Don Ball

Equine Behavior and Training – Dr. Cindy McCall

Equine Reproduction – Dr. Soren Rodning, D.V.M.

Equine Exercise Physiology – Dr. Kari Turner

Herd Health Management – Dr. David Pugh, D.V.M.

Basic Horse Genetics for the Owner and Breeder – Dr. Cindy McCall & Dr. Lisa Kriese-Anderson

Forage Pest Management - Dr. Darrell Rankins, Dr. Kathy Flanders, Mr. Henry Dorough, Dr. John Everest

Composting and Handling Manure – Dr. Frank Owsley ; Maintaining Safe Equine Facilities – Dr. Cindy McCall

             There is a $100 registration fee for the REIN program. Locations for viewing these simulcast video conferences include:
