Forages

Save the Date! Friday December 1, 2011 is the Statewide Alabama Forages and Grasslands Conference. Lake Guntersville State Park. Program and registration coming soon! Pre-registration cost will be $25.

Forages are key to every livestock enterprise. Without adequate forage, livestock and horse producers become more dependent on stored feeds. With proper management and the cooperation of Mother Nature, fresh forages should be the main staple of the nutrition program.

It is imperative producers know the nutritional value of both their soils and forages. Depending on soil type, soil should be tested every 2 to 3 years. Hay needs to be tested yearly.
