Reality Check

 

Reality Check is a hands on, real life simulation that addresses financial management on a level that students can understand. It gives young people the opportunity to take a glance into the future in a fun and exciting way. Students assume they are 25 years old and the primary support of their household, and are given a monthly salary from a randomly selected career. Then they proceed through Realville...where they are required to "pay" rent, "buy" a car, and they "incur" household expenses. They are required to budget their money in order to have something left for "savings" at the end of the month.

The Reality Check Program was recently presented in Cleburne County, as part of Be Extreme-Inside & Out, a weeklong program aimed at teaching young girls how to avoid certain risky behavious while empowering them with social graces and self-esteem. Here are some pictures from the event:
