2008 Piggy Bank Pageant

Calhoun County Saves held its 2nd Annual Piggy Bank Pageant as part of America Saves Week 2008 on Tuesday, February 26th, at 5:30pm, at the Anniston City Meeting Center. This year, 29 youth entered their handmade banks. There were 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in three categories: 7 & under, 8-12, and 13-17. Over 75 parents, relatives & friends were on hand to watch the pageant.

A new saving group, CALHOUN COUNTY YOUTH SAVES, was launched. Enrollees pledged to try to save money over the next 6 months, and as an incentive to get started, were given a $5 roll of dimes. All 29 entrants pledged to start saving, whether in a bank/credit union, their piggy banks, or under their mattress!

Ages 8-12:

1st Place - Bringing Home the Bacon

2nd Place - Chef Savor

3rd Place - College Bound Pig
