  • Alabama Master Gardeners
    • Web site of the Alabama Master Gardener Association. Links to information including the state MG conference, news, MG program information, announcements and related sites.
  • Alabama Urban Forestry Association (AUFA)
    • AUFA promotes proper care for trees in urban environments. "AUFA develops partnerships to further better tree management, promote professionalism by encouraging professional certification, licensing and continuing education, produce seminars and workshops to increase knowledge in arboriculture and work with public officials and stakeholders about issues affecting urban forestry." Some of the partnerships are with the Alabama Forestry Commission, Auburn University through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and School of Forestry and Wildlife Services, and the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
  • Cornell University Vegetable MD Online
    • Vegetable MD Online was developed to provide access to fact sheets on vegetable diseases produced at Cornell. Color photos are available as well to help with disease diagnoses,and the site is searchable.
  • GardenWeb Glossary
    • GardenWeb's Glossary of Botanical Terms "currently contains 4400 terms relating to botany, gardening, horticulture and landscape architecture." The glossary, which is part of the larger GardenWeb, site may be searched or browsed (with the caveat that there are many pages to go through.)
  • The Helpful Gardener
    • "The Helpful Gardener brings the pleasure of gardening to your home. Bookmark this site because we are continually adding new articles, gardening tips, and features." The Helpful Gardener is authored by an instructor from the Master Gardener program at UConn in Connecticut, Scott Reil.
  • Home Garden News
    • Home Garden News, a Web log (blog) from the Alabama Extension System, provides information of interest to gardeners in our state.
  • Horticulture HotLinks
    • Horticulture Hotlinks, a page from Illinois Master Gardeners, provides information about other MG programs in the US. In addition, it is also a source of gardening answers, such as Hotline Helpers, plant databases and more.
  • Horticulture on the Internet
    • This site, from North Carolina State University's Department of Horticultural Science, offers a number of links categorized by plant groups, garden topics and sources of information.
  • Landscape Horticulture at Auburn University
    • The Landscape Horticulture site is intended for a range of audiences: home gardeners, landscape professionals, commercial growers and urban foresters. Among the features available is a searchable Plant Identification Resource that provides detailed information including images, scientific and common names, growth habits, planting information and pests. This resource may also be browsed alphabetically. Other features include a keyword index, newsletter archive, events, ideas and useful links.
  • The Master Gardener's Guide to Finding Answers on the Web
    • Aimed at helping Master Gardeners find answers to questions on the Web, this page provides links organized into categories for broad topics, specific questions, Problem Solvers and Plant ID, Plant Selection and Care, and MG programs. In addition, more gardening information is available from the Garden Gate home page.
  • National Arbor Day Foundation
    • The National Arbor Day Foundation site offers searchable information on tree varieties, a hardiness zone lookup, an online tree identification guide, tree planting and care guides. In addition, there is information about membership in the foundation, programs, Arbor Day dates and event calendars, and much more.
  • Other Master Gardener Sites
    • Maintained by a Master Gardener in the Colorado State Extension Service program, this page provides links to MG and Extension pages in the US and Canada.

  • Plant Disease Diagnostics
    • This site from the University of Minnesota's Extension Service is intended to help diagnose plant disease problems. Users may select the type of host (such as flowers, vegetables, turf, etc.), choose what part of the plant is affected, then view photos of symptoms.

  • PLANTfacts
    • This page from Ohio State University has a Factsheet database that provides access to plant-related information from 46 different universities and government agencies in North America. The database contains over 59,000 pages of Extension Service publications to answer questions about plants.

  • Trees of Alabama and the Southeast
    • From the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University, this site was produced by Dr. Lisa Samuelson, Mike Hogan, and Tom Stokes. A menu on the left side of the page allows navigation to topics that include Samuelson's book Forest Trees: A Guide to the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic Regions of the United States, quizzes, terminology and types of trees. The site is searchable.
  • Vegetable Varieties On-line
    • This searchable database from ACES, updated Fall 2002, helps answer the question of which varieties to grow. Information was compiled from trials over the past nine years and from seed catalogs. The database contains all vegetable varieties grown in Alabama, and searching is available by type, performance, disease tolerance/resistance claims and source of seeds.

  • WebGarden
    • WebGarden is sponsored by Ohio State University, and provides a collection of resources for gardeners, students, agronomists and horticulturists. Features include a searchable database of factsheets and plant dictionary.
  • Wildland Invasive Species Program
    • Invasives on the Web is sponsored by the Nature Conservancy's Wildland Invasive Species Program to provide information about invasive plant species. Topics addressed here include definition of invasive species, control and descriptions of the worst weeds. Viewers can find the worst invaders in their location by clicking on a US map. The section on weed control offers images and documentation and is searchable by scientific or common plant names.
