The Alabama 4-H Youth Development Center, located on 264 idyllic acres along the shores of Lay Lake in central Alabama, plays an important role in the development of Alabama’s youth and adults.

The Center is a combination of camp, forest, conference center, education and training facility, nature preserve, bird sanctuary and game refuge. It is an area where all living things are important, where all are a part of the 4-H Center environment. Annually, approximately 17,000 youth and adults attend 4-H environmental stewardship camps and educational training.

To continue and expand the mission of the Alabama 4-H Youth Development Center as well as all of Alabama 4-H, plans are underway to construct and fully equip a new environmental education facility and 17 guest rooms and suites at the 4-H Center. This new facility will help Alabama youth and the state’s educators by providing them with cutting-edge environmental education based on sound science, as well as leadership educational opportunities they can use now and in the future.
